Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for several years. Her mom raised her in the USA, where she faced several racial stereotypes, which left her feeling like an unwanted person. In the 9th grade, she began to feel more comfortable after she was acknowledged by her teachers as a success when she sang at the school's audition. This not only increased her confidence, but also her goals were changed. She graduated at the age of 22 with an education from the Julliard School in New York. When she was 23, she started her professional career, making her debut at the Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films with You've Got Mail. The part in The Lad of The Lake was her greatest success, and earned her an award called the Tony Award in addition to praise from critics for her performance. Later that year, as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC the show, she received more appreciation. Known as a singer she has also released a single as well as an extended version of her play. Also, she is a campaigner and has been active to promote LGBT rights.
